Alcor Junior Transport C.6.1
In 1937, Allan Lockheed founded the Alcor Aircraft Corp. in Oakland, Calif. Allan believed that there was a market for a twin-engine eight-passenger feeder airliner. They created a sleek, almost futuristic new aircraft, naming it the Alcor C.6.1. Despite its modern looks, the new airplane retained the conventional Lockheed wooden construction that had served so well for the Lockheed Vega and its variants. Twin Menasco 260hp engines laid flat in the wing/engine nacelle help create the shark-like nose. The C.6.1 was tested extensively. but the plane destroyed in a crash.
